Project: Dynamic Packaging System
Dynamic Packaging B2B project of joining two separate systems. A mixed packaging system was identified as a unique solution on the market.
Background
We were seeing a decline in bookings for our static packages — those built on our own charter flights and hotel contracts. At the same time, dynamic packages — with hotels and flights from external suppliers — weren’t performing well either. Both were offered separately, just like our competitors.
At the same time, the actual front-end search of dynamic packages was over-engineered - too complicate to be adopted by users.
Challenges:
- Divergent understanding of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) between two international development teams (Spanish and Russian), each tailored to their local markets.
- Technical performance issues with the existing system, necessitating a new caching solution.
- Limited project budget.
- A strict deadline for market launch.
My Role
As a Product Manager, I was responsible for defining the product strategy, ensuring product success, and inspiring the team to develop a market-revolutionary product within tight constraints.
Decisions
- Integrate the static (ERP-based) and dynamic (API-based) travel package sources into one consolidated search engine to improve usability and eliminate redundant comparisons across systems.
- Streamline the front-end search and booking experience by showing real-time prices in the search results, simplifying the selection process, and improving filters and navigation logic.
Approach
The two separate systems for dynamic and static travel packages confused B2B customers, leading to drop-offs during the search process. A mixed packaging system was identified as a unique and more convenient solution.
Key Steps:
Key Steps:
- Adopted the Agile framework for flexibility, as the project involved significant risks and uncertain outcomes.
- Used lean development techniques, prototyping critical features, and gathering stakeholder feedback before full-scale development.
- Allocated specific sprints for learning new tools and anticipated additional time for code refactoring and bug fixes.
- Strengthened the team by adding a business analyst and UI designer.
- Assigned two support members for faster problem resolution.

Methodology and Tools
- Methodology: Agile (Scrum)
- Team Composition: Cross-functional, international team of 23 members (15 in Russia, 8 in Spain)
- Tools: Jira (with Scrum plug-in), Redmine, Google Analytics
Results
- Achieved a 33% overall sales increase and a 500% growth in targeted market segments (dynamic packages with regular flights).
- Improved stakeholder satisfaction.
- Accelerated critical functionality delivery by 40% through Agile implementation.
- Launched a unique software product in the Russian market within 6 months (MVP).
- The MVP became one of the market’s leading tools within 3 months of launch.
Lessons Learned
- Early and consistent stakeholder involvement is critical in B2B projects.
- Transparent communication of the product roadmap and results ensures alignment with larger strategies.
- Agile methodologies with developer engagement proved highly effective.
- Strong negotiation skills with stakeholders are essential for success.
